Annual Planning Meeting - July 2008
- Our goal as always is “SHARED LEADERSHIP”. Please consider stepping up into leadership roles for your son, his den, and our pack. By February 2010 we will need a Cub Master, Committee Chair, Awards Coordinator, and a Treasurer because the people currently holding those positions will “graduate” with their sons!
- We will be heavily recruiting this fall. Our goal is to sign up at least 15 new members to build up our pack. Flyers will be sent to Grainwood and Edgewood this fall and in the spring. Scouts will receive an award for recruiting a new member.
- Thanks to those who gave, we achieved our “Friends of Scouting” fundraising goal!! As a result, our pack will receive our rank advancement badges FREE of charge from the Northern Star Council!! Yippee!!
- Due to our “Quality Unit” Award, the cost of this year’s Pinewood Derby cars will be FREE!! Hooray!!
- Possibly this fall or spring, the Northern Star Council Shooting Sports Committee may be putting on a gun safety program. Details will follow later in the school year.
- Jen Nagy will be our wreath fundraiser coordinator again this year…thank you!
- REMINDER ON TRAINING REQUIREMENT – ALL LEADERS NEED TO BE TRAINED! Our goal is to have 100% participation. We are currently at about 40%. Jim Collins will be e-mailing the link to leaders so you can take all 3 training programs. The 3 categories are Basic Leader, Youth Protection, and Den Leader Specific. Each takes about 30 minutes on-line. There may be some “classroom” training requirements as well. Stay tuned.
- Your den may want to participate in the Fast Tracks Program this year. The goal is to make sure your den advances to the next step by the Blue and Gold Banquet. Basically your den will need to meet at two den meetings, 1 pack meeting, and complete 1 pack activity a month. Any den can participate in this program but it is not required. Contact John Torvik at jrtorvik@aol.com for more information.
- The Pack Committee voted to pay for all slides and belt loops for wolves, bears, and webelos this year since we have the funds available.
