Dear Pack 336 parents,
Hope you had a great summer! As usual, it flew by!
School is just around the corner and that means the 2006/2007 cub scout program year is just around the corner! The Pack 336 monthly parents meeting generally occurs on the first Monday of every month at 7:00 PM at the Savage Library. Due to Labor Day, we met last night. Here is "Pack 336 Top 10 List" for August 2006.
10. Your den leader should be contacting you soon to invite you to our fall kick-off pack meeting which will be held at Cleary Lake Regional Park on Friday September 22nd from 6 to 8 PM. Also, we will have an optional family camp out that night and on in to Saturday morning for those who want to participate in the 4th annual Pack 336 family campout!
Please go to our web site for detailed information about the pack meeting and optional campout. Again, your den leader should be in touch with you soon, so feel free to ask them questions or contact me with any questions.
The hot dog supper at 6:00 PM on the 22nd will be for everyone whether you are camping or not, so please tell your den leader how many will be coming from your family for supper and pack meeting, AND tell them if you plan to camp.
9. We will have 4 stations for the boys to go through at the pack meeting. One station will be exclusively for the new boys in our den. Another one will have all the wreath fundraiser info for you to get your questions answered. The wreath committee will get the wreath info to the den leaders next Tuesday so your den leader can get you the info and you can start selling September 9th. Another one will be for uniform inspection (make sure your cub scout wears his uniform!), and the last one will be a fun-filled activity coordinated by Den 1!!
8. The report from Wade Mosset, Assistant Cubmaster and Camp Coordinator is that the vast majority of our boys went to camp this summer! Way to go parents! Most boys say they join scouts to go camping, so that is awesome that most of the Pack 336 boys went to camp this summer!
7. Keep checking our web site as the whole Pack 336 program Calendar for 2006/2007.
6. Den leaders, the den duties for the year will be posted to web site soon. For September, here they are:
Den 1 - Fun and games station
Den 3 - Admin duties including welcome table, name tags, etc.
Den 4 - flag ceremony
Den 5 - clean-up, but everyone is asked to help a little
Den 7 - Social host (i.e. food and drink for the hot dog supper)
Den 9 - song or skit
5. Just a reminder that our pack will call Westwood Elementary School home this year where most of our boys will attend school this year. We have boys from several elementary schools in the Prior Lake-Savage Area School District (719) which is great! Starting in October, most of our pack meetings will be at Westwood.
4. As in past years, there will be a buyout option for the fundraiser if you and/or your son just don't want to do the wreath fundraiser. More details will be included with your fundraising info that you will be receiving soon. We need everyone to participate in either the fundraiser or the buyout in order to fund our budget for the 2006/2007 program year. Thank you in advance!!
3. One change to awards this year. We will give belt loop awards to the den leaders to hand out at their den meetings. All the other awards we typically give out at the pack meetings will continue to be given out at the pack meetings.
2. Joe Farnen is "retiring" in February as the Pack 336 Committee Chair after the Blue/Gold banquet when his son Jack will graduate from cub scouts. Thank you Joe for several years of faithful service as our Pack Committee Chair!! Thus, we are taking applications (ha ha) for Pack Council Chair. Please contact me if you want to find out more info about this exciting volunteer opportunity!
1. Be sure to tell your cub scout that you love them and are proud of them, and be sure to bring them to cub scout pack and den meetings and other activities. They will have a great time and so will you, AND you will be spending quality and quantity time with your son!!!
Please contact me or your den leader with any questions. Thank you and we'll see you on September 22nd!!
Regards,
John Torvik
